Unilam Pressings is the largest independently-owned specialist manufacturer of electrical laminations in Africa, from where it also serves international markets. Unilam is also active in all other types of metal pressings and press tooling. Our extensive facilities can be applied to produce stampings in a wide range of materials, to any engineering specifications. Visit our products page for more detail as to what we are able to produce for you.
Unilam Pressings was previously the laminations division of GKN Sankey, with over 20 years of lamination production in South Africa, before becoming an independent company in May 1986.
We offer in-house computer-aided facilities, computerised wire-cutting, tool and die making to either your or our specifications, and a combined expertise that ensures products of the highest available quality.
When Siemens were manufacturing motors in South Africa, Unilam produced all of their new 1LA6 range of low voltage laminations as well as high voltage up to frame size FS560.
Hawker Siddeley/Brush and GEC both had their own in-house lamination facilities but also used Unilam extensively for quick deliveries and overflow work.
Local markets serviced include: the mines, the automobile industry, motor manufacturers and the building industry.
Laminations are currently exported to the UK, Germany and the US and we are expanding in these areas.
